Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

Welcome to the Bobcat Community!

Elvehjem Elementary School is a close-knit community where parents, teachers, staff, students, and neighbors all work together to bring learning to life! Part of that is the Elvehjem (LVM) Parent-Teacher Organization, an open and welcoming group of Elvehjem parents and staff collaborating on fundraising and activities for the school.

You are invited to join in this fun, hard-working, creative community! Contact lvmpto@gmail.com with questions and to let us know you’d like to join us.

About the LVM PTO

The mission of the LVM Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is to creatively foster rich educational opportunities for students by promoting a positive relationship between school, family, and community, and by providing support that enhances the educational functions of the learning environment.

We raise money for important “extras” that aren’t covered in the school’s tight budget: buses for field trips, outdoor learning spaces, a garden teacher and school garden, club-learning opportunities, book author visits, and teacher appreciation events, to name a few.

We raise funds by organizing the Bobcat Boogie (a healthy, movement-based fundraiser), Trivia Night (adults-only fundraiser), fundraiser nights at restaurants, and more. And we take regular donations at any time throughout the year! The PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization, so your donation is tax deductible.

More than money: We also coordinate activities and efforts like the Fun Fair, talent show, school yearbook, and spiritwear (Bobcat-themed clothing) sales all to build community within our school.

Membership to the LVM PTO

All Elvehjem Elementary parents/guardians and staff are automatic members of the LMV PTO. There are no dues or registration required, and we welcome LVM parents and staff of all gender identities, ethnicities, religious beliefs, and skill sets to our group. Diverse ideas and experiences make our community stronger – we want to hear your ideas!

LVM PTO Meetings

Meetings are not usually people’s favorite activities, but we do our best to make LVM PTO business meetings short (1 hour or less) and sweet (we stay on topic, while laughing and brainstorming along the way). PTO meetings are open to all and held on the second Tuesday of each month August-May of each year. They’re typically held at the Elvehjem School library. You can join us for any meeting at any time!

We typically also host two school-wide meetings per school year, geared at offering important and useful information to the broader school community. Usually one is held in fall focusing on that school year’s mission and welcoming new families, and the other held in spring focused on transitioning students to middle school. Those meetings are announced through the PTO’s email list and the PTO’s Facebook page.
