Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

Welcome to the LVM PTO!

We’re glad you’re here, and we welcome you to the Elvehjem Elementary school community. Below you’ll find a little information about our organization and how best to stay in touch.

The mission of the Elvehjem (LVM) Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is to creatively foster a rich educational opportunity for students by promoting a positive relationship between school, family, and community, and by providing support that enhances the educational functions of the learning environment.

Membership

All Elvehjem Elementary parents/guardians and staff are automatic members of the LMV PTO. There are no dues or registration required.

Meetings

PTO meetings are open to all and are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm either virtually on Zoom or in the school’s LMC (Library/Media Center), unless otherwise noted. Please sign up for emails from the PTO and/or check the Elvehjem monthly newsletter to stay updated on meetings and locations. Each month we have a topic of discussion/speaker, as well as updates on events and volunteer opportunities from the school principal and the PTO Board. We hope that you will attend. We welcome your ideas and input!

In addition to attending meetings, you can stay updated with PTO news, activities, and volunteer opportunities a number of ways:

• E-Newsletter. Our e-newsletter is published (most) Sunday evenings during the school year and comes right to your inbox. If you’re an Elvehjem parent/guardian or staff member, please use this link to sign up to begin receiving our newsletter. (You may need to check your junk mail and/or add lvmpto@gmail.com to your safe senders list.)

• Facebook. Our Facebook page is a great place to get updates as they happen--and to ask questions of other Elvehjem parents and staff. Use this link to access “LVM PTO News” and join if you haven’t already.  

• Email. If you have any questions or comments about the PTO, or need help navigating any of our events, volunteer opportunities, or fundraising activities, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly at lvmpto@gmail.com.

A Word About Fundraising

We hold a number of fundraising events throughout the year to support our school. As most of you are aware, public school budgets have been cut significantly in recent years, and the funds we raise help fill this gap to support all our children. We offer a variety of ways to donate--from Butter Braid sales and events like our annual LVM at Night to collecting Box Tops for Education and hosting Restaurant Nights. We also gratefully accept direct donations at any time. (Please make checks out to “LVM PTO” and deliver to the office in person or mail to the school to our attention). The PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization, so your donation is tax deductible.

With that said, please do what’s right for your family. You may want to participate in most fundraising activities or just one or two. Or maybe you aren’t able to donate money, but you can collect Box Tops from your friends and neighbors. Or maybe you prefer to volunteer your time at one or more of our events. Every little bit helps and it truly takes a village to make our school the best that it can be. However you choose to help, know that it is very much appreciated. THANK YOU!
