2025-2026 Academic Calendar Now Available

The calendar for the 2025-2026 school year is now available.
Each year, a committee made up of district staff and Madison Teachers Inc. representatives meets over a series of months to finalize important dates for the upcoming school year.
The committee takes into account state laws, Department of Public Instruction (DPI) regulations, Board of Education policies, provisions of the employee handbook and religious holidays, and staff and family input. These various provisions impact such things as school start date and numbers of contracted work days, conferences and Professional Development (PD) days.
In addition, the committee also takes into account the professional learning needs of school staff, time for staff to analyze data, and time dedicated to implement each school’s School Improvement Plan (SIP). Finally, it consults with staff and family advisory groups about their preferences for length of breaks, the start and end of school year, scheduling conferences and so on.
We are appreciative of the hard work of all who had a hand in finalizing next year's calendar, as well as the patience of all MMSD families and staff as that work has taken place.
