Welcome to Elvehjem Elementary School!

On behalf of our entire school community, I’d like to welcome you to Elvehjem Elementary School. Whether you have been a part of the Elvehjem Elementary family for many years, or are new to our school, we look forward to working with you. At Elvehjem we work hard to provide positive learning experiences, relationships and engagement for all of our students. We have long standing traditions that include high quality academic programs paired with a strong sense of community among families, staff, and students. As we continue to strive to create a warm and welcoming environment, we encourage all of our families to become active participants in the learning process. The entire Elvehjem staff looks forward to establishing a strong educational partnership with you for the benefit of your child. Staff members are committed to challenging every student academically in an environment that is child-centered, safe, culturally responsive and supportive of learning. Clear communication between home and school is a necessary link to the learning process. I encourage you to become involved in our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for more information about our school community. There are numerous opportunities to volunteer and be active in the education of your child. We welcome your involvement and look forward to working and learning with our students. Together we can continue to make Elvehjem a wonderful place where each child has a positive and successful learning experience. Sincerely, Sarah Larson Principal

Please observe the No Standing, Stopping or Parking signs in front of the school. Also, please avoid using the back parking lot to drop off students behind school and please do not stop in the middle of the road to drop off or pick up your child. We have had some dangerous close calls with students during pick-up and drop-off times. We are counting on all of you to obey established safety procedures and practices.

Elvehjem Elementary School exists as a community of students, staff, and families dedicated to student growth and development:

  • Academically - through participation in learning within an environment that actively narrows the achievement gap, eliminates racial predictability and enables all students to be successful in the world
  • Socially - through developing and sustaining respectful and meaningful relationships
  • Emotionally - through active engagement in school life.

The school environment will continually evolve to address the individual and changing needs of students to create a school community which values respect and diversity.
Sarah Larson, Principal

When calling the safe arrival line, 204-1406, remember to give a reason for the absence or for the late arrival. If coming in late, let us know if your child needs a school lunch and whether it is choice A or B.

Students must be 10 years old to ride their bike to school. Stop at the office to fill out the bike form.

Mrs. Larson will be celebrating birthdays with each child on a weekly basis. Each week she will invite the birthday children to come and choose a birthday book. This is a fun and positive way to promote reading and celebrate your child's birthday!
